Lake Erie Adrift

This collection of illustrations features artifacts that have been found along Lake Erie's southern shores in Erie, Pennsylvania. Most of these artifacts so far are metal, wood, or a composite of multiple materials.

A selection of these illustrations are currently on display at The Great Lakes Shipwreck Exhibit at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.

Maya Research Program

From the summer of 2017 through 2019, I was thrilled to work with The Maya Research Program in Northwestern Belize. I had the opportunity to illustrate over a hundred artifacts consisting primarily of Mayan ceramics. What an incredible experience!

Future artifacts

An upcoming collection featuring items in my home that will one day become artifacts.

Open Past Coloring Pages

I was one of many artists that contributed to the coloring book pages for Open Past, a charity in Scotland aiming “to help advance people’s knowledge and skills regardless of personal circumstances, with a focus on history, heritage and archaeology.” https://making-humanity.org

My inspiration was showing an archaeologist’s connection to an object and its story.

Artifact Illustration using Camera Lucida

Academic Poster presented at the Archaeological Institute of America 2020 conference. The information was scheduled to be presented as a symposium at the 2020 Society for American Archaeology conference but was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Final Moments

Inspired by researcher Ryan Cook, a colleague with the Pennsylvania Archaeological Shipwreck Survey Team (PASST), these are illustrations of Ships on Lake Erie circa the time of their loss. The Dean Richmond and the Indiana were two of the shipwrecks featured in presentations by PASST at the 2022 Erie Tall Ships Festival. Handmade prints were for sale at the event.

Deaccession Game

A Role-Playing style game developed by Curator Becky Weiser, Assistant Curator Amanda Rockwood, and Volunteers of the Hagen History Center. This game was presented as a session at the AASLH/AMA 2021 Annual Meeting. I provided illustrations for the various parts of the game.

Victorian Dresses

I worked on illustrations that went into various parts of the Victorian Dresses exhibit at the Hagen History Center:

  1. Silhouettes of the Victorian dresses on display at the Hagen History Center representing each decade of style changes through the Victorian Era.

  2. Illustrations of each piece of a typical Victorian outfit which were put into a digital tablet so guests could flip through and add each layer of the outfit.

  3. Paper Doll with each layer of a Victorian outfit, outlined so they can be colored in by guests.

Logos

These are a few recent logo graphic designs I’ve worked on that did not end up being used,
even some of my own (*spoiler) for my upcoming expansion into museum consulting in 2024!
